My friend has a se electronics SE2000 condenser, and it sounds really good, is SE Electronics worth looking into? They seem cheap.

Compared to what?

Compared to a $19.95 Radio Shack dynamic, the SE condenser is the next best thing. Compared to a U87, it sucks.

What application are you going to use it for, and what is the rest of your signal chain?

Cheap isn't always bad.....

I don't think SE's are cheap enough for what you are getting. I'd stick with MXL, Studio Projects or the cheap Shures.

check out the SE3600, sounds really good.... I liked both this one and the Z5600 when I heard them at www.thelisteningsessions.com

even better, check the whole ADK line. I happen to like most of their mics, from the Model S to the tube ones, A-48, TT and TL, those are my next acquisitions.

i got the se2200 a little while ago cos i couldn't get a B1 to demo instore. kinda wish i'd just gone with the B1 cos i'm not feeling it to be so much greater than my C1000S!

that said, i tested instore against a Samson CO1 and it at least sounded miles apart from that.

I personally like the SE mics I've tried. They all seems to be very solid mics, and the new models they're coming out with seem to be very interesting...

It's just that they're a bit more expensive than the comparable competition.

Dot's got some good samples of SE mics over at the Listening Sessions.
