Well i've been into the listening rooms and read as many write ups as i can and the SE Electronics Z5600 valve mic sounds pretty good to my ears anyway, if it will suit my smallish size guitar and voice is a different matter. Over here in the UK this mic complete with psu and a fancy wooden box cost around 395 uk pounds, i guess thats around 750 us dollars. Anyone tried these and had any experience with them? Its still a Chinese capsule and made in China, after seeing a tv prog the other night where an average Chinese worker gets paid around 40 us dollars a month, i guess the importer or handler is making quite a chunk. If not we will have to have a look at the Audio Technica range! Go on help me out here my heads spinning with microphones.

$750 is a lot of cash for a Chinese knock-off! I'd consider getting a Gefell M930, which might cost you the same in Europe with some luck, and you'd support the European economy.

Here's another thought: good mic for guitar? Neumann KM184! And who says you need a LDC for vocals? The KM184 is awesome on vocals als well! (Seal has recorded with that mic). Its only £325.00 at Studiocare, which is a very trustworthy British store. Just an idea.

Do Geffel have a Website? Can't seem to find their homepage anywhere.
Many Thanks

You mean "The Listening Sessions"? ;)

BTW, did you check out the Red5 Audio mics at TLS? I thought the Red5 Audio RV15 sounded good. I think they are made in Scotland or somewhere close to the UK so you may want to check them out.

Also, did you see the CAD M9 thread? I’ve heard it makes a great acoustic guitar mic and it sure sounds good on the mp3 posted in that thread. Don’t know about the price/availability over in the UK, but you might want to give it a look as well.
