Hi Guys,

I'm putting together a vocal booth in a small corridor in my house. I need to fit a temporary curtain pole to exclude the booth from the rest of the corridor. I was thinking of getting a pole that extends the width of the corridor and rests against either side to secure itself without the need for screws (Think how a child gate attaches with adjustable ends to push against either side of a door frame.). Does anything like this exist? Or I am asking too much of hardware stores? Any ideas?

You mean something like this?

Are you hoping a curtain will have some effect on sound or is it just a visual thing?

Every home store carries spring loaded shower curtain rods.

It's a little bit of both. A 3 foot long section at the end of the corridor is going to be covered with acoustic foam on all walls. then going to hang a heavy curtain on the curtain pole to block off the rest of the corridor.

EDIT: Thats perfect if the width of the corridor is more then 1.1m!

OK fair enough.

I know you came here to ask about a pole, so fair play if you don't wana hear this BUT,

You might wanna take a look through this section of the forum.

There's a lot of info in there recommending bass traps, NOT recommending foam in most cases, and advising away from working in areas like corridors and square rooms.

But hey, for all i know you like the ambience in that space or something. I'm just saying. :)

I appreciate it! Cheers. Just getting started on my studio to be honest and don't know how any of it is going to sound yet, just trying to work with the space i've got! I'll have a look through it though defiantley and see if I can use any of the tips!

There are also shower certain rod ENDS that work with any length rod- you cut the rod to approx. 2 inches of the width you are spanning, then use one, non-adjustable end on one, er, end, and the adjustable end on the other end. Only limitation is the weight of a long rod and whatever you are hanging on it can overcome the friction the end cap has on the wall.
