I will record 1 track (guitar part or something), when I try to lay a vocal track down in a separate track, the vocals sometimes sound distorted/scratchy when I play them back. I just recently installed the sound card and never had this problem before. Any suggestions? I have all settings set at 44.1 / 16 bit for recording if that helps.

Is the vocal-track clipping, as in is it really loud?

How are you recording your vocaltracks?

I can record 1 vocal track and it will be ok then if i try to record another track of vocals, they become scratchy. i don't believe i'm clipping. it sounds like static.

Can you try and record two separate tracks from a line source, say a synth, just to see if that works.

What OS are you running?
This has been a problem for delta users, sometimes installing an older driver will fix this problem, there have been problems with the newer drivers in 98.
:(

i am using win 98 SE. one thing i forgot to check was my levels in the m audio mixer. hmmmmm .... thx for the advice all.

Did you try repacing the drivers?
Go to this site, search for previous drivers and install according to their instructions the .27 driver.
This may sound odd but it has worked for a few people including myself when I was running 98.

thanks, i'll give it a try. and yes, i'm running windows 98 SE

YES!!! Replaced driver with old .27 driver and I think we got it! Thanks AcidRock! It appears to be working fine now. UDAMAN!

That's what I was going to suggest. Glad you have it worked out. Now pass that fattie over here.

Thanks guys, all good now! and Mike, the fattie is in the mail (nice job on the beatles tune)
