I've owned 3 schecters, 2 basses and the Schecter classic 6 string. All are top quality gear. The Classic is especially sweet (rivals my LP Studio). Pick one up, you won't be sorry

Well I redid all the electronics on my C-1 Elite. I put in PRS #7 pickups and replaced the push-pull with a good CTS pot. The Volume was CTS from factory, which I think is great. I also copper shielded the electronics and the pickup cavitys. I finished it off with a new set of Snake Oil Strings.
It sounds really great now. A very modern agressive tone, which is a good slight change from my vintage sounding Les Pauls and SG. Those #7 pickups are awesome! I added a set of Gibson amber speed knobs, too, and removed the chrome ones which I thought were just a bit too much for me. It turned out nicely:

Well, if anyone's still looking at Schecter, I like them.
I played a few PRS's today (ugh) and a few Schecter's. Neither one was better, just different. I will say that the fit and finish on the Schecter was better than the PRS. They both sounded mediocre through the muddy amp I was using, but the PRS was $3500 and the Schecter was $600.
The nicer ones have Seymour Duncan JB's and Jazz's or JB's and 59's. That's a hell of a deal. They also have 4-conductor pickups for alternate wiring.
Now as far as the playability goes, to each their own. I find their necks a bit thick. My buddy loves thick necks, and he's selling his Gibson and buying a Schecter. I personally find them to play and sound light years beyond Fender, and they generally play better than most Gibsons I've picked up.
I had an S-1, and I paid $225 used on eBay. Great deal. Sold it for $275 on eBay a year later because I was broke. It was a good guitar. I prefer angled necks though, and it has a straight neck, so if you like lower action, you'd love the thing.
By the way, I can't stand Ibanez.

Here's some more hype for ya. I OWN a C1 Classic and that thing plays great and can get a multitude of different sounds. It has JB/59 duncans and a 5 way switch that gives you single coil and humbucker tones. Light as a feather and looks great.

Dude, for the money schecter guitar are awesome. They're some of my favorite guitars (and I play caparisons and gibsons) so they're good.

Ok, here's the rest of the Schecter story:
The guys in the meatpacking business have grabbed all the Schecter inventory and they haul it to Dallas, Texas, where they have their Blue Ribbon Meat Packing business already set up, and they open up Schecter in Dallas, selling off the inventory to any dealer that will buy the stuff.
In the meantime, Shel gets a court order forbidding the meat guys from using the Schecter name, and he reopens Schecter in California, making very limited production Schecter guitars.
The Blue Ribbon Meat guys basically ignore the court order and still keep selling off the Schecter inventory, while at the same time, getting Samick to produce bodies and necks for them to sell as complete guitars and accessories (Schector also had a nice business going selling pickups and parts).
When it looked like Shel was finally gonna close down the Texas Blue Ribbon Meat guys, they closed up shop and disappeared.
Shortly after this, I learned that Shel Horlick died, and that's where my story ends. I don't know who ended up with the rights to the Schecter name or where they're made now.

I was looking forward to a much more violent ending. Perhaps with guys on hooks in a meat locker........
I also own a Schecter C-1 classic and I think it's a great guitar.

i have a black cherry C1+ and it's been great to me. got a good deal on it too, $399 on sale at GC a couple years ago. teh pickups that came with it aren't the best, but it plays really well either way.

I just bought a C1 Classic and I am very happy.
It feels like a real guitar, the neckthru construction is absolutely amazing for the sustain and just the feeling you get when playing it.
The guitar is beautiful, and built well. Also the pickups in this thing are great.
I would definitely say they're worth the buy.

I own the baritone Blackjack 7 string now for over a year and i absolutly LOVE this guitar.Although, the first thing i did was rip out the JB bridge pickup (i didnt like that hollow sound)and threw a "tone zone" in it.
Now,combined with my mesa triple rectifier ,this thing screams!

In the meantime, I purchased a 7-string Schecter Hellraiser, but due to some problems with shipping (too long of a story to type here), I never ended up with the guitar I ordered ...instead, my local guitar shop upgraded me to the same guitar in the black cherry finish (from the standard black finish) and took several hundred bucks off the cost.
Great guitar, even if I had paid full price!
