"Scary, unsettling Jazz!!" Ambient/atmospheric

Into the daylight worked for me - the others a little too freeform for me to get into - nicely recorded material though and very clean.
Yeah I did this stuff back in 2013. I was mostly trying to emphasize the Phrygian Dominant mode played over 4th voiced chords. This music was OK for background music for some videos.

I've never been inspired by modes in my life. I know loads of people like to explore them and base songs and improvisations on them but while clearly, my old music theory means modes are in my head, I have a chord and perhaps it's a weird one, and somehow my brain takes me to the next one, without any conscious thought around what modes are actually in use? Maybe that's why I find contemporary jazz too weird, where you need to break the notes down to something 'titleable' then you use theory to produce the progression, then you convert that into the notes you play. I can't do it!
