has anyone installed XP drivers for the SBLive yet?
Cause when I do, sonar only recognizes my card as 1 in 3 out,
and approaches it as a mono card only. So far no problem, as the win2k drivers seem to work fine too, just wondering...

I recall seeing several discussion about this on the Sonar newsgroup. Apparently it has happened to all who are running XP with an SB Live. Unfortunately I don't recall the fix (I'm not running XP, so I didn't have a need to write it down).

From memory I thought the fix was something regarding a "roll back" on the drivers... but it was many weeks ago, and I've donated too many brain cells to substance abuse research. :)

well, you kept the good cells (who needs the rest :) ). You're probably right, I did roll back the drivers (to win2k, I guess).
Thanks anyway.

This happened to me too at some point. And I unfortunately forgot the exact cure because I was troubleshooting another problem I had at the same time (crackling/popping on track playback).

But as I remember the solution was either:

a) move the SB card to a different PCI slot
b) uninstall/reinstall the Creative XP drivers
c) delete the device from my h/w setup and let XP plug&play/detect it again.

In any case all is good now. Hope you get it cleared up.

thanks guys, the rollback-thingie works (install XP-drivers, then roll back to previous (win2k) drivers).

i have no problems wit xp drivers recognizing my sblive though i don't use it to record cuz it doesn't support 24 bit, they say u should change ur comp to standard comp instead of acpi cuz the soundcards don't like windows telling what to do or something to that effect

but then I wouldn't be able to use that neat little button on my keyboard anymore to shut my computer down, would I? :D

if u haven't seen it theres an optimizing XP thread in recording.org
in the computing forum
