Has anyone used the SPDIF connections on the SB live? I can't seem to get any sound to come through. Is there anything special that I need to do? I am using a digital mixer as my source and I want to record onto my computer. I have setup the mixer's output correctly. I am using Sound Forge to record. Help!!

That's the only connections I use for recording applications. The analog connections are just way too noisy for me, and useful only as computer speaker outputs for gaming or whatever.

I had to download the latest drivers and software called Livewire2.0 or something like that from the SB web site. It was about 21MB total of stuff I had to get. That was about a year ago, but if you have the normal version instead of the newer Platinum, MP3, X-Gamer versions of the Live that Creative has, then I bet you have to download those drivers as well. www.creative.com should get you started in the right direction.

If you have the latest Livewire drivers, then check the SB mixer and make sure you have the SPDIF channel active and the volume is up.

Remember

If you have the software which displays the CREATIVE toolbar at the top, remember to click on the "AudioHQ" tab and then the"Device Controls" tab. Then click the "Digital I/O" tab and make sure the SPDIF bypass box is NOT checked. Then if you have a CREATIVE mixer, go to the plus (+) sign above the master volume control and make that the "Digital Output Only" box is NOT checked. Making these two changes is the only way you will be able to hear sound from the wave out port. Later.
