Hello all

I have a 32 channel Neotek mixer with a line out from that into a line in on a Soundblaster LIVE! Value soundcard in my PC. Everything worked fine for awhile. We all heard each other through a little Radio Shack battery powered headphone amp (if you want to call it that). The headphone amp was plugged into the line out of the SB Live, and then we plugged our headphones into the headphone amp. Worked pretty good and sounded great.

The problem was that we needed more power in the headphones, so we bought a ROLLS 4 channel headphone mixer and simply replaced that with the Radio Shack dealy. After one night's use, the sound coming out of the PC was crackling at times, and at other times the sound would just fade out completely. We were really crankin' that night. After a reboot the sound would be OK again, but only for awhile, when eventually we would get crackling again.

I guess here's my question: Is there any way to fry a line input on a PC soundcard? At first we thought that this might be the issue, until these crackling symtoms occured when we were just listening to playback and nothing else.

Would having 16 channels or so in a mixer outputted into a PC soundcard line in, plus the PC sound card's line out supplying us all with our monitor output be too much for it?

Thanks in advance
