SB Audigy ? Crap or what?

I need a decent sound card but my cash situation is not really great right now. I can afford a SB-Audigy platinum, it sounds good(the advertised specs I mean). I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this card.

How much $$$ can you afford.....you can get a Delta Audiophile 2496 for $159 and a Soundblaster Live Value real cheap and youll have 10X the quality of the Audigy.....

get something from midiman for cheaper, better sound quality and great driver support..

Don't have an audigy myself, but:

1 A friend of mine does, and says it's fine for playback purposes.

2 A load of people on the Fruityloops board have been bitching about it for recording purposes.

Audigy is running $250 at CompUSA.... my 24/96 Echo Mia was less than $200.

And the Audigy STILL only records at 16bit/48kHz. It will only playback 24-bit files. Why would any musicmaker want one????
