Yea, I'm a cheap bastard and not real computer smart, but how do you check and/or set up a SB 512 for full duplex ? I got a 8 track freeware and it tells me I do not have a full duplex sound card or it is dissabled.....Huh ?????

The SB 512 is a full duplex card...you don't turn full duplex on or off. You could try updating your drivers, but I'm thinking that you should update your "free 8 track software". ;)

I was under the impression older SB's were full duplex, but it switched down to 8bit audio or something when you did that.

That was the Soundblaster16 and maybe the original 32. The deal was that you could record at 16bit while playing back at 8bit...you could only playback at 16bit when you weren't recording. The bit depth reduction was automatic though, so it didn't see to impact software.

It was a monitoring pain...I used an SB16 when I first started recording on the computer....ugh. Noise floor at -30db...8 bit "sizzle" while recording...half a second of latency....and it just DESTROYED sound.

My SB 512 PCI works full duplex on its own. There is no where to turn this feature on. Are you having problems recording something while playing back???

As far as I know half duplex is something of the past since like 1995. I agree with Slackmaster: Try other software.
