some light bulbs have definitely gone on in my head lately (doesnt mean i dont feel like an ass for not knowing about balanced lines, even though i actually did somewhere in this skull o mine)...albeit far late...so in essence, the SB has mono inputs?...and no matter how many y's I have its still going to record this as a mono signal?? (ie i pan bass left and guitar right on the behringer, but its still going to wind up as a mono signal once it gets through the soundcard?) Im guessing that to be what you meant Slack, when you said it doesnt have balanced inputs...what a piece of crap...hehe I bought those cables for nothin, I should go back and get that chicks number or something...seriously if anyone knows where a good deal is on an audiophile, Im in the market for one...xmas will come early :D

The line in on a SB-16 is stereo. If Slack says the mic-in is mono, I'd believe him. Personally I've never used the mic inputs on any consumer sound card, they just aren't very good. Plugging a mic into your Behringer mixer and recording into the line in is much, MUCH better.

I got my Audiophile on sale at Guitar Center for $130. Typically it's about $150-$180 most places.

A stereo signal is just two mono signals, one representing left, and one representing right. If you wanted to record two stereo signals, you'd need a soundcard with four inputs. The SB16 has 2 inputs (in one stereo jack).

sounds like he`s y'ing a mono cable instead of a stereo cable.

I have seen the light...

...ok yes the mic is mono and the line is stereo :D...amazingly enough I never actually plugged the damn thing into the 'line in' slot...duh...I guess I was just having so much fun untangling wires...ok great everything is trunning stereo. Thanks very much for all the help...:D:B
