Sorry, I've never auditioned this mic, and can't make any informed comment about it. Unfortunately, I have no first hand experience with ribbon mics, eccept watching one be destroyed by a wind gust during a live outdoors performance. I've learned a little second hand, and hope to test it out. At that price point, I might buy one just to mess with.
What I've learned second hand is that they are relatively fragile. Don't blow on one, don't drop it, and use a wind screen outdoors.
Some of the older ones in particular can be fried by phantom power, so don't use it. Their signals are reportedly fairly weak, and they profit from a very hot preamp. They don't do well with high SPL's, so it probably is a bad choice for kick, which might do it in. How this thing would work as an overhead, I have no clue.
This mic is fairly new to the U.S., and you probably won't find many people who have first hand experience with it. I wish I could tell you more. If you do buy it, please post your experiences, I bet a lot of people are interested. I know I am.-Richie
