Just curious if anyone has had any success using the GT2 AHEAD of an amp/PA?

Recent developments have me with no practice amp, so I've been using a PA (old Mackie 808M) and my Sans/GT2...or trying to I should say.
It actually sounds like complete garbage, and is noisy as all hell...

I've tried it using the AC adapter that I bought with the GT2, and with a 9-volt battery.

So anyway Iwas just curious if anyone has had any luck with the GT2 in this way, and if so, using what type of amp (ever used it into a PA for any reason?)???

Running it in to an amp would be more than a little redundant.

:D

But like it's name suggests (ahem!) ... you would use one in instances where you, um, don't have an amp. Hence the name - SANS amp.

Kind of neat how that all works.

Anyway, in your case, you would plug your guitar in to the input, dial in the sound you want, and then run the output in to one of your PA channels.

If it sounds like shit, then you either need to mess with the settings, run it in to a better PA ... or better yet, and I know this is a revolutionary thought, but you could try getting your amp fixed. :D

There are places that do that sort of thing.

What kind of noise are we talking about here?Have you tried different combinations of volume levels between the GT2 and the PA?I've got a Sans amp classic and it gives me basic tones and I've never had any issues with noise.

Are you using single coil pickups?

i used to use one of those in front of a bedrock and a proreverb (i think that's what it was called.) the high gain settings can get noisy...and the thing never really sounded very good to me...i was usable...but kinda papery.
i would think going into a PA wouldn't help the tone out much. The noise issue is hard to say what it is without hearing it.

Hope that helps a little.

Mike

Sounds to me like the buzz/hum I've always associated with EMF.

No singlecoils, Seymour and Dimarzio humbuckers.

It was very frustrating having another guitar player who wouldn't stop playing long enough for me to dial it in....
Maybe I just need to give it another shot trying to get better separation between devices (drum machine/effects/distortion/GT2/Etc.).

There's a humidifier and heater running as well, but the PA/GT2/everything else is on a separate/dedicated circuit....

Into a Mackie 808M PA.

Have you practiced your routine in front of a mirror?

Practice more.

Thanks, Mr. Obvious.

Once again, Thanks Mr. Overlyobvious.

My amp is not broken, it's temporarily located 45 miles away, but thanks for your false attempt at assistance.

Lick my nurtz.

When all else fails use process of elimination. The tone of your original post seems to point the finger at the Sansamp as the culprit, could it be the PA a cord or whatnot?

I used to play in an acoustic duet years ago and we plugged into stomp boxes and directly into the PA.I don't recall having any issues with noise, but it wasn't real critical considering the dives we played in.:D

SANS Amp

Have you tried running it directly into the EFX Return. It's a preamp---running it through the front panel of your guitar amp can work if you get the right EQ and gain ettings, but it's really meant to be its own preamp. Try it directly into the efx return of your amp.
