I need a good mic for vocals and one for acoustic guitar mostly. I have an SHS OM-450 (an SM57 copy) and a few cheap mics ($30), but nothing too fancy. Are the cheaper cardioid Samson C03 or C01 worth their salt? I don't have a lot of cash and would like to keep it below $150, and these seem to offer a lot. I'm a Nashville boy, so I need smooth acoustic sound, but not twangy country.

Also, the little Edirol Digital studio monitors (MA20D and MA10D); can I get accurate sound from them.

I'm currently using a Behrenger Eurorack MX1804 X and the old Cubasis VST program with the Steinberg Project card... just so you see what we have to work with.

I only have one word to describe the Samson mics.

HHIIIISSSSSSSSSSS

At least thats what the mics tell me. You can get a Studio Projects B1 for like $80 bucks and it is worth every penny. I don't know much about the Edirol monitors. I use the Event TR5s and they're just fine. I used to have a comparable pair of M-Audios and they were great too. Good luck, boo Samson.

here is my recomendation...get an mxl603s or a pair of oktava mk012's....also get an mxlv67...a good guitar sound can be obtained by using the v67 picking up the sound hole...and the small condensor up around the neck...the v67 also sounds great on vocals IMHO
let me know what you end up doing
Good luck
-Jake
