hi i use samplitude to record my bands work. but does anyone know if theres a certain way to finish the bands work of before saving as wav file. Because when i save all the recorded audio about 3 minutes long its over 20mb the size of the file. how is this I want to be able to put atleast 10 songs on a cd but at 20mb a song i wont be able to do that. Songs off cd's are only about 5 or 6 megabyts and the length of there songs are much longer. Anyone help me here thanks anyone that visits please drop a comment

Wav Files yield big file sizes but sound much better. What you need to do is export is as a mp3 if your trying to make it smaller. Or grab a converter.

20mb per song for 10 songs = 200mb
(an audio cd holds 650mb so whats the problem?? You could do 25 songs that size on an audio cd)

If your songs are 5-6mb off the cd you are looking at mp3s.
Remember those have 80% of the audio information tossed away in order to get the file size down that small.
Quality will always suffer....

Most of my 4minute songs come out at 30-40mb as uncompressed wav's.
15 of them would still fit on a standard audio cd....

MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE between mp3s and uncompressed audio files.
Also make sure you understand the difference between audio cds and data cds....

WAV files use something like 9meg a minute. A three minute song therefore uses about 27meg. Most MP3s are about a tenth that size. That's normal and you are far better of saving as WAV files because you retain the quality.

Once you've got these WAV files as good as you can make them, you can later convert to MP3s if you want smaller file sizes (and the consequent reduction in quality).
