I'm a sideways lowjack with a crackwhack question. I want to Mickey Mouse me a sampler to use on stage. I wants to use me Kawai K4 as a master and my old Compaq PC as the slave. I play samples like keyboard voices, and most of my samples aren't more than 2 seconds long. I have been using a Roland W30 but its borrowed and I have to give it back. I need a keyboard style sampler but dont have the money to go and buy one. My question is, what software would you good folk reccomend for my PC, and is 32MB Ram enough to do what I need here!?
If your computer is at least a Pentium II 200 MHz and a fast hard disk (access time of less than 10 ms), you can do what you propose to do with Gigasampler LE. This is the "light" version of Gigasampler and costs around $80. It is a "powerful" sampling system that streams samples directly off your hard disk. You can get by with 32 MB of RAM, but 64+ is recommended.
