Since we have so many people who like to sample, I have a question for you.

If you had to make a new beat with a rock sample in it, what's your top 3 songs that you would sample from, why you would choose them, and what elements would you sample from them?

Since I asked the question, I'll go first.

1.) AC/DC - Back In Black. I'd sample the guitar loop and some of the vocals possibly. It's an up in your face track and you could really say some shit to move people on it.

2.) The Cure - Purple Haze (It's on a Jimi Hendrix tribute CD, a rare find. You want the mp3 to hear what I'm thinking on this one, get at me). I would actually take this one and the original Purple Haze by Hendrix and mix them together. I would use the beat that the Cure made, take it and loop it and then throw in some of the original guitars from Jimi and then mix and match vocals from both (if I had the acapella for the Cure's version, which I don't). I would pick this one because when I listen to it, it provokes thought for me. I feel like I could really spit somethin' deep and get some thoughts off my chest.

3.) Aerosmith - Janie's Got A Gun. I would use the beat and probably some of the hook. Remember when Eminem did "Sing for the Moment", took Aerosmith's track and flipped it into something cool? Same thing would happen with "Janie's Got A Gun" only the Janie bit would have to go. It'd be an entertaining track to do to say the least, and would probably be some fun.

Hope this broadens some of your minds. Keep bangin'

Cashmere- Led Zepellin
Magic Man-Heart
Live -I'm not sure of the name but it was on their first album.

Electric Guitars

Nickelback-Photograph~why=I believe if killed correctly alot of creativity can be made from this track~elements=chorus vocal and guitar riff another good one...I walk alone by Greenday

I actually sampled Led Zeplin's Kashmir a few years ago. I didn't realize Puffy had Jimmy Paige replay the guitar part for one of his songs though years ago. I would like to see if someone could do something with Ozzy's Ironman, I tried but didn't really like it.

Rock samples iw ould use
Eye of the tiger by Journey
If i die tomarrow by Motley Cure (i actually used this one before)
I must be dreaming by Evanacence (gping out on alimb hear but i think it would be ill, is tarted but never finsihed this one)

I would sample:

George Harrison's My Sweet Lord (which is impossible as it will NOT get cleared.) I have the original 1970 pressing lying around and I think I'll sample it anyway and just not release the track 'cause it's SO perfect for sampling.

The Beatles' Norweigan Wood (also impossible but I might do it a la Kweli's "Lonely People"). I would sample a few sitar riffs and chop them down real small.

Anything by Jim Byrnes

anything by rare earth. (yes its official... if you dont know, now you do.)

shit is heat.

ZZ Top - Cheap Sunglasses

It has a nice strutting riff. I'd love to hear what it would sound like with a few juicy chops and beats. Any takers? :)

I'll take it.....Cheap sunglasses it is then i'll post it in a couple of days
