sampling question

I'm wondering how to isolate certain sounds from a record or cd.
Say I want just the vocals, no bass, no drums, just vocals. Or any other sound for that matter. How would I sample this without the rest.
Is this even possibe?
What equipment do I need?

its pretty much impossible to isolate just vocals from a track with dums, melody, etc...
you could try to eq the sample enough to bring out the vocal sample

other then that there is no way

Although I have heard there is some media available that only includes instrumental so you can do the vocals, sort of a kareoke thing.

You have to learn the art of sampling. Then you wouldn't want to do that. Keep working on it.
