sampling question on Alesis SR-16

I am a newbie with MIDI and sampling I was wondering if it is possible to use my Alesis SR-16 to trigger not just drum kits but also other sound bits.

Thanks.
 
You could use it to trigger a sound in another module via MIDI, but the SR-16 doesn't sample.
