Sampleing rate...?

No, I don't think I need anymore help understanding...he explained it perfectly. The only problem is I want this higher sample rate, for the simple reason of it sounding better...
48khz is cd quality right...? how would 96khz be overkill...?

So-called "CD quality" is 44.1 kHz, not 48 kHz.

If you don't have Neumann mics and $4000 ultra-super mic preamps, what you record will have absolutely nothing in the region of the spectrum above about 18 Hz...

So a recording at 96 kHz will give you the ability to record what's above 24 kHz and get a wider frequency response... but it is inaudible to humans anyway, and without the gear I mentioned you wouldn't record anything up there anyway.

Try it... record an instrument or your voice at 44.1, 48, and 96, and see if you can tell any difference in the sound.
