when i say "sampled" drums i am refering to software drums such as Drumkit from Hell. does anyone here have experience with both of these in your recordings?

i am recording my M-box sessions with roland v-drums td-6 and would like to know if anyone here has a comparison.

thanks!

Why not use both .... record the MIDI information from the V-Drums and use whatever samples you like loaded to a virtual instrument.

I agree with crankz. I use mostly V-drum sounds from my TD10, but I do also trigger sounds from other modules and sometimes from a sampler.

I always record the MIDI performance and dealy commiting to specific drum sounds until later in the recording (after I have most of the base tracks down).

This allows me to see where the snare needs to sit and how much attack I need on the kick, etc. etc.

Could I ask a question and hopefully not steer this thread in the wrong direction?

I tried to track drums using a Hart Dynamics kit with a Roland module. Throughout the course of recording I noticed that the triggers of various other pads were going off simply from the vibrations being transferred through the rack. I figured the module could be configured to stop that but, I could'nt get it perfect. Now the question... When you record MIDI information to PC and put it through a virtual kit, can you edit out the parts that trigger when they aren't supposed to? Also, can you record the MIDI to PC and send it back out to a hardware drum machine (SR-16) then go analog to a stereo track on a tape machine or other recording device? Lastly, Can the Alesis HD24 do what I just described or is it's midi in/out for controlling the HD24 only?

Thanks and sorry I took over the thread for a second or two.

Chris
