My band did a quick recording of one of our newest songs. It has a mix of styles from samba and rock. The performances are not as tight as they could be, but I think the song comes across pretty well. Listen and hopefully enjoy

This is a "quick recording"?? I long for the day when one of my "quick recordings" sounds like this :)

Very nice work.

Well, quick as in tracked completely in a 24 hour period pretty much. Mix phase was about 2 days.

Thanks though,
Beez

the singer has an INCREDIBLE voice. especially in the upper range.

it sounds like he is sometimes reaching a little though.

Pretty nice effort overall

Nice track.
A little over-compressed for my liking, and the snare distorts.
But over-all a great effort.

Beezoboy-

nice track man. This song has a very different feel from some of Elohsa's other material. Its good that you guys can weave in and out of different styles.
Btw-you guys put on a good show the other night at champs. Lots of good covers and energy. Keep up the good work

Thanks for the comments everybody. I am going to tweak this mix a bit because I think the snare is a bit boxy and I think I can do a little more with tom panning and other little details to make it sound better.

Beez - damn, that sounds awesome! That song has unreal energy. I listened to it several times and really enjoyed it. Do you guys ever play near Philly/NYC?

The bass solo in the beginning has a cool woody tone to it - was that direct of a mic'd bass amp?

I might try one of those ring-eliminator loop things on the snare to get it a little tighter to blend better in the mix (I can't think of the name of those jauns right now?). Other than that I like the drums - the tom pans sound good, and the crashes blend nicely into the background.

I'd like to hear the difference in the intro section if the guitars were panned left and right as in the rest of the tune, instead of in the center as in the intro. Part of me digs how the guitars pan out as the singer jumps in, but part of me is distracted. Interesting.

The singer comes across awesome awesome in parts. As CyanJaguar said, it sounds like he's reaching a little at parts. He definitely has the skills to nail every part with a few more takes. Sounds dope considering this was a "quick" recording!

Anyway - awesome job!

Thanks man. We are going to try to maybe make it up to NY this summer to end a tour we are planning. It may happen and it may not. I'll be certain to let everyone know if we do.

The bass is DI'ed btw. It is into an old Roland SIP-301
