Hey all,

I just got a M-Audio firewire 410 and so far i love it. I've read the couple of threads on this lately, but am still very confused about s/pdif, adat, lightpipe, TOSLink, and all that jazz. I am interested in getting the Behringer ADA8000 which has ADAT in and out and was wondering if I could use it with the m-audio card. The connections appear to be the same, but with the talk in the other threads I'm still very confused.

Thanks for all ur help,

jackson

ADAT Lightpipe and the S/PDIF protocols sometime use the same TOSLink connector, but they are different digital formats and are not compatible.

so even with the converter that m-audio makes...the CO2 i think, there is no way to get this to work?

No - The CO2 doesn't support the ADAT Lightpipe protocol..... it only handles optical/coax S/PDIF, which is NOT ADAT Lightpipe.

You can't tell the protocol based on the connectors optical S/PDIF and ADAT Lightpipe both use TOSLink connections....
