A bit of background.

I wouldn't normally do a political song, but lately at night
when I least expect it the ghost of Woody Guthrie has
been visiting me and feeding me material.
Now Woody's a nice enough fellow but he's kinda creepy
so I asked him to leave me alone. He said that I he would
if I recorded this song.

I said 'but Woody, what the hell do I know about folk music'
to which he replied 'don't B.S. me man, i've heard your music
you don't know much anyways and this is no time to go getting
uppity about it'.

Well he had me there..

So in the case of you being a fan, don't hate me for this song..
hate Woody.. and understand that no matter what, I am just a
regular guy making some simple music. Rush Limbaugh will
still be much richer and have more power at the end of the day
than all of us no matter what a simple man like me could toss at
him. So don't go getting all funny with me telling me I might
hurt his feelings, he can dish it out so I reckon he can take a bit
too.

That being said, I present a simple song in the design of American
folk music.

I had to present it light hearted because no one would believe it, or rather they would likely believe it but think I am a fruitloop.. which I may be too..

Mostly the soundclick charts are silly kids stuff... one certainly can't take them seriously.

But when a song like this is flashing at #1 in Folk and #3 in Rock over 200,000 other songs and without any paid promo and I am getting the kind of feedback in my personal email like I have with this one (both pro and con) well, I think the extra inch of exposure is dandy.

Thanks to all for putting and keeping it there for a short time.

Let me educate you how soundclick works.

Clicks mean nothing.. I could get 1 million clicks and it would count for nothing. One has to listen to a song for 2 minutes at the minimum before it counts as a 'hit' and it has to be from a unique IP.

If I wanted I could coax people to 'hit' but never to 'listen' .. what I have NO control over is that in 48 hours the song has been downloaded over 300 times and I have had about 1500 unique IP plays.. I had no control over that.. people are listening all the way through and downloading and I have NO control over it..

thats how soundclick and 'hits' works..

As for your constant whining about my 'not listening'.....

You just admitted to have NEVER listened to this song, you complained about my written introduction, then you complained when I came in to thank people for 'listening' (remember, over 2 minutes or it doesn't count) and enjoying and downloading the song in such abundance.

You Greg.. you have been the primary feedback in this post.. from a guy who admits he hasn't listened, NOR provided any FEEDBACK on the song in question.

And Greg.. I was getting #1's at soundclick way before I ever started posting in forums. I have a fairly sizable fan base and no need to go out 'pimping' for hits, that and #1's really mean very little.

I do however LOVE to share my work, my art... this is why I post it in this and a few other forums. Forums touted as 'come share your mp3's' which is what I am doing.

Again, if you don't like it.. don't listen..
