running plugins standalone

Hi,

This is not realy recording related, but this looks the best forum to ask:
Is there a way to run several plugins (DX and/or VST) without running an audio application? I would like to use a spare pc as active cross-over filters for experimental loudspeakers. So ideally I need a small program where you can select an input, an output and put some plugins in between. If there is an program that allows this, fine, just let me know. This pc has to run unattended, so once set up, only the powerswitch will remain, so I dont want complicated loading procedures (if possible).

All your looking for is called live processing, I believe to have to use an audio application. Maybe someone else knows of another solution. I have done this in N-tracks before, the problems is it really loads the computer, you can down load N-tracks for free and try it, what do have to lose? This is what protools is so good at. Sonar has their new Wdm Driver support that is trying to do the same thing on a cheaper budget.
