hooked up a new configuration. just wondered if there are any potential conflicts or redundancies, particularly regarding which output on the mixer to run back into the amp (main out?) and which one to use as a line-out for recording (monitor/control room?).
rig goes like this: sl-20 to dd-20 to dd-20 run into mixer's send/receive. the mixer is a xenyx802 by behringer. amp stereo send (fender princeton chorus) into channels 1 and 2 of mixer. main out of mixer ran into amps stereo return. currently using the mixer's monitor/control room out into a zoom h4n for recording. or is it possible the control room should be sending the signal back to the amp and the main out used for recording?
electric guitar with buffered effects going into the amp's input. keboards/drum machines going into the mixer (and therefore the dd-20's and the sl-20). i noticed a hiss if i have the main volume of the mixer turned up too loud. turning up the amp increases the sound volume but not the hiss so this is very easily compensated.
i set up this rig so i could still use the mixer (and the effects looped into it) for additional instruments while not killing the guitar tone by plugging it straight into the mixer. have owned a DI Box for quite a while but was never happy with its results especially regarding wanting to dial in tone on the amp not the mixer. thanks in advance for any insight at all. regards - ca
