I love the guitar sound. No ripping it apart from me.I like the harmony lines. The synth sounds really good too...you get some really clean stuff man.I guess thats from the computer recording that Im so afraid of eh?

Uh huh,I like the lead break around 1:40.A little bit of the van Halen in you coming out. Here comes another solo.Yeah, the singing tone sounds great.damn,I was gonna post a rough mix of an old tune I've been screwing around with but now Im not.Your "rough mixes" sound like cd quality whereas mine really do sound like "rough-mixes".;)

Nice Job Mix.

p.s. Did you write this around the time you did stundael?(I beleive thats the name of it.......Leadnuts backwards:eek: )

sounds real clean-nice guitar playing. The guit tone is nice kinda rockman-sounding but it has that perfect sound i gotta admit. Is it double tracked in the beginning? or is that some kinda stereo thing. Nice key solo-the sound was kinda plunky-like not much sustain but the playing is good. Nice guit solo why didnt you add that harmony line there that seems like the hook of the song to me...Anyway I listened to this 4 times already and it sounds great-no good advice to be had from me.

Super-clean (what did we expect?) Definitely the 80's feel mixwise... (no grunge) ... an 80's British Invasion-type sound and even... Madonna-ish? Or Mike Hammer... Tears For Fears... Thompson Twins, etc...

Gotta love those crispy, 80s synth drums, even :)

Really cool flange sound on that lead line.

The thin ties, and pastel shirts are coming back!!

Nice job

Chad

Hey mix,
......yeah man, I enjoyed the abreviated version of this too..... .......cool stuff.
.....very nice melody line to this. It's classic 80's hard rock... melodic enough to be pop, but hard enough to avoid being compared to Loverboy:D. The mix was nice and clean...... I liked the use of levels and panning on the lead parts. .....Sounds to me like its ready for a slight vocal re-arrangement , and some vocs. ......... :)

Nice work man,

G

very early 80s...........the guitar tone is nice, not too harsh or anything...............there are times when i'd give the guitar more volume in the mix, but that's just me being a guitar player........good job

The mix sounds cool! It sounds like this Frank Gambale instructional tape I had.

Oh yeah ... 80's definitely...has an 80's flick kind of soundtrack feel to it...

Sounds great over here. I really like your arrangement on this as well. Keeps the song interesting.

Nice job! :)

damn Eddie V!

very enjoyable song to listen to... this style is right up my alley
your mixes are awsome as usual... I love 'em
I heard ya playing with that volume knob on the axe... COOL!

Great Job Mix

im listening again :)

Didn't you post this just the other day? I'm pretty sure i listened to this or something close to this. Okay i see where you said
(re-record). Tell ya the truth i liked the first one better, not saying this is bad cause it's so far above my head it aint funny. I heard a note on the synth or gtr at about 1:30 or so that stuck out (off note or something) that i didn't hear in the first one. Maybe my player got stuck or something:D . Man you got a great sound and your playing is...incredible

I dig it Mix. I especially like the stereo layers It seems that there's ear candy all over the place to hold your attention. By the way I still use my Rockman from time to time.:D

nice mix.. clean recording.. I like this kinda stuff.. I recognize many of these Roland sounds.. no critique from this geek.. good show bro!

On a side note, I checked out the new Roland XV sound modules yesterday.. the XV 20-20 ($599) and the XV 50-50 ($799.) Many of the same sounds except for a few new ones, and the general sound of it seems to be a little crisper.. The one thing that really stood out for me was a great gregorian chant patch.. I almost bought it on the spot when I heard that one, but the fever passed.. I'm trying to save my pennies for a Mesa Boogie anyway..

O.k. back to the song, I like it.. very melodic.. Glad you did more with it.. If I had to squeek out a comment, it would probably be just a few patch preferences..

cool.. it even sounds good with my hangover..

oh yeah.. spell check.. 'roughie' or 'roughy' :D

Hi there bro!

Definately the 80's.

Loved the synth sounds and the lead gut tone, but the rhythm guitar did seemed too "direct" IMHO, but the lead, it was like a cross between Eddie Van Halen and David Gilmour!

I liked the song and of course in the mix there's absolutely nothing wrong about it. Afetr all it's mixmkr!

Cool, man!

Nice Job mixmkr !!

:D

Sounds like New World Order with Steve Vai.
Sounds really nice, there are alot of tones to discern here!!!!
Something going on around 2:10 or so with the drums that was a bit loud or something, almost sounded like popping. Maybe it is just my system.

Great beat, nice Melody, I can dance to it
I give it an 89 Mr. Clark !

Keep it up!

Joel

straight outta the 80's is right. I think the guitar tone is perfect for this context. Not my favorite genre, but the mix sounds good. Coulda been the theme song to 'Riptide' or one of those.

thanks all for the many quick replies. Much appreciated, and much kinder than I really thought I was going to get. I think next post I will say "straight out of the 70's and see if you guys think that is right...or if I am still in the 80's;)

this was a cool tune for me, as I didn't leave my chair until it was done, and I didn't plug in one friggin mic, to boot....

Kramer...thanks for popping up first. And no..this is a new(ish) tune...this last month... Stundael...ha!!! you remember, ...that was from quite awhile back, but the tunes are similar, I can see that now. good memory. I'm actually shocked.

stratomaster. ...yes...that is what I played (stratocaster)...thru a J-station. the very first rhythms were dbl tracked. The rest is all single guitars, except where there are harmonies, of course. I've actually never owned a rockman...and only played thru one once at a store back when they first came out. Didn't have the change at the time, so I never got one.

Participant. Chad...thanks for the listen...and NO thin ties, thankyou....they get stuck in the whammy bar!!! ...and...(gasp), I can actually appreciate much of Madonna's music. I like the electronica stuff a lot, and actually don't mind her voice (and cone tits either!)

guernica. yeah...I'm gonna have to try and create something for you to wail on, as you are the singer I always wanted to be. thanks for the listen.

powderfinger....yeah...crank the gtrs to 11....or even 12 in the mix...eh?

SS454...I've never heard of Frank Gambale...but I take that as a huge compliment. thanks

boydrj... another 80's vote from ya!!... It's apparently what I like to do...and do best.

jmarcomb... I was hoping you'd listen to this. I consider you one of the primo shredders here, and was expecting less than complimentory comments from you...but you are toooo nice a dude!!!.. Those remarks from you put a BIG smile on my face. I wish I could play your Satch stuff as well as you. And your acoustic stuff. oh well... Nice to be 'involved' and get comments from better musicians.

David...thanks for the listen. I kinda can see liking the first version better...it is more basic and this version, I tried to 'spice' things up a bit. maybe not always for the better. thanks again for your listen and comments.

track.... you are a serious shredder too...(but I think you are kinda in hiding, sometimes). J-station.... The rockman I ONCE tried was at Slocum's...but I passed on it. Didn't think it was CLOSE to the Boston sound, and the $$ was too steep for another "toy". thanks also.

bsabb... lay off on the grammer dude!!!:D and...thanks for being "high" for the listen (I love given ya shit for that...ya know now...as a pot head from waaaaaay back)....as I know it made for complimentory remarks. guitar leads and reefer just seem to mix!! ha!! seriously, I take your comments to heart, and yeah..the roland has/is becoming a big 'crutch" I need a Tritone...and the cash to get one!!

flapo1 ...an outside the USA listen!!...thanks dude... and thanks for the kind remarks on the mix. I appreciate your time and comments.

jcmm... being in the same sentence with the word "Vai" is enough in itself. I consider that utter nonsense, as Steve is in another level (as in UP 10+ levels) in playing. I am at least aware at how good he really is. To some he is just a note gobbler....to me, he is incredible. What you heard around 2:10 is a bunch of "tablas" and those kind of drums...mixed kinda back to help the rhythm move along. Thanks for the listen.

coplinger... another 80's vote!! was it the title to the thread??:D thanks for the kind words on the mix.

Voxvendor...where are you?? 80's music!!...come on dude!

oh...btw...that is "Scout" in the avatar. He is "Diggers" three week old TRUE brother.. like in same parents, next litter. He is coming home in about 4 weeks!! all pure JACK RUSSELL!!

again thanks all.

Very electronic sounding kit. The whole feel is 80's, but at the same time, the mixing is better of what I'd expect from an 80's song. I don't think there's anything wrong with the guitar sound, since this is supposed to be similar to that era. I can't find flaws at the moment. To my ears this sounds very good. Of course you didn't manage to make this nearly as cheesy as a real 80's song would be :D

And this is a good instrumental. I'm all for instrumentals, since they're not usually that easy to write if you want to keep them interesting.

Very cool and very good.

One of the best mixes I've heard here.

Is there a pending vocal track?

Mix, I listened to this last night and thought it was great, but I got pulled away before I could comment. And now I have to tear down my PC to move to the new place...so I'll get back to ya after another listen.

BTW, I love "Passion and Warfare." I learned "For the Love of God" note for note (well...) in High School and played it at a talent show. Man that guy is good.

Getcha back later man!
