I'm building a Neve 1272 with a mod so it can be used as a mic pre. There are a couple different parts to the 1272 that I have learned about during my search for info on building it. There is an amplifier card called the BA283 that you need to build. It is also used in others like the 1073. Anway, there are only a few parts outside of this card that actually make up the pre. There are two transformers (the most expensive part) the connectors and power supply and a couple resistors/caps. I found a circuit board design for the BA283, so if I build that and it works well, everything should be relatively simple.
