You've got some nice tracks there but the arrangement is a little too crowded. It sounds like your pulling out all the stops on the different parts and they are fighting with each other. Maybe simplify the rythm guitar and let the slide do the accents? It would probably sound better without those drums in it at all. A few percussion instruments would probably do the trick.

Sounds like it's coming along nicely. Good sound on the acoustics.

good song, i think it would sound great with some voc harmonies (i couldnt hear any). and to push it over the edge, i agree with what they were saying about the drums, maybe get just a little more percussion in there like a shaker or something. also, that harmonica or a violin would add a lot.

but mostly backup vocs like simon and garfunkel.
great job on the mix!

Pete, Try some shakers or surfaces you can scratch. Use an omni mic and it also gives the recording a nice sense of space.
 
i've listened to this several times...but was a wanker and realized I never responded.
My problem with the drums is the snappyness of the kick sound..
the guitars are borderline in tune with the slide playing too. I think it is more the slide taking its' time sliding up to the notes. There also seem to be a dozen guys in there picking away, and it's hard to make sense out of any one guitar playing. My only other problem is the lack of soul and emotion with the singing..

sorry to take so long with a reply after a half dozen listens or so....

Nice tune, but I think parts need definition, and the guitars sound like they could be mic'd and/or recorded a little better too.

I bought an egg shaker but I don't have an omni.
I think the 603 is a really wide cardioid,I'd really like to try it on slide and the shaker.

You know I can't do this without ya!:D

This is a really rough mix,I changed the style from rock to acoustic and wanted to see if it worked.
I'm working on tightening it up.

As far as the vocals,what can I say,I suck!
I'm thinking about trying another mic,been looking at the AT4033.
It's going to be my reward when I quit smoking!
