Hey.. I am having a hard time finding OC 703 locally.
and haven't really priced out shipping... but I can get
rotten cotton for about 30cents / sq foot locally.

What's the general thoughts on that stuff vs 703?

I can't find the OC stuff locally either.

I've used both Rockwool, and the other thing I've used when i could find that was fibreglass ceiling tiles. I just peeled the plastic film off of the one side, and stacked them up 3 or 4 high.

Expensive option though. Was around 60$ Can for a box of 12 four by 2 panels I think.

What's rotten cotton? Is it dense? Is it rigid? I would suspect it's not nearly as good considering no one that I know of has used it.

ATSAcoustics.com sells rigid fiberglass at a decent price.

I'm not sure if the link you posted is what you refer to as 'rotten cotton'.. but it is mineral wool. (says so right on the first page of the flyer).

It is excellent for making absorption panels.

Just make sure you wrap the panels with a breathable material (burlap or something similar).

There are lots of threads on making gobos or absorption panels in here, I'd check them out.
