I am interested in getting the XV-88 and I was just wondering your opinions on it. I know it is very heavy which might hinder me taking it on the road, but what about the key action? The sounds? Is it overall a good keyboard to get? Is there adequate I/O?
I have one and love it!! As a piano player, I really love the key action. Personal taste, but I'm in pig heaven. And the sounds are celestial. On the other hand, I'm not dragging it around.
You really need to check the action yourself. I have an A90EX and when I was originally shopping for keyboards, I found that I liked the A90EX much better than the RD500, even though they allegedly used the same mechanics. The Kurzweil/Fatar action didn't appeal to me at all. Other people have the opposite reaction.
Yes, it is one heavy mother of a keyboard. I generally don't move mine around, and if I did I'd spend the money to get a good flight case with wheels.
Is there a good variety of sounds on the JV3080 engine? I checked out a model of it at a local music store and the action is good but may take a little getting used to. Unfortunately I was not able to give it an extensive look.
