Let me first explain my set-up...

Roland (midi Out) -> Proteus (midi In A)...Proteus (midi Thru A) -> MPC (midi In A)... MPC (midi Out 1)-> Proteus (midi In B)... Protues (midi Out A) -> Roland (midi In)

I'm sequencing in MPC1000, using Roland XP-30 synth/controller to trigger my Proteus, but MIDI signal doen't seem to be leaving the Roland to the Proteus.

The MPC can trigger the Proteus so I know the MPC and Proteus is OK... but I can't seem to figure out the Roland.

If some one knows the Roland XP-30 very well, or can help me out with the Midi.... I would appreciate it very much!

Plug the Roland midi out into the MPC midi in. Then find the 'local on/off' control inside the Roland and set it to 'off' - this breaks the connection between the keyboard and the sounds inside.

Then hook midi out (either one) of the MPC to the Proteus midi in. Next, hook the other midi out on the MPC to the midi in of the Roland. This will give you the possibility of using the full 16 channels on both the XP-30 and the Proteus.

This is probably just a temporary setup until you manage to sell the XP-30, right? If I were you, I'd at least try this setup for a few months before selling off any part of it. I've been involved in the recording game long enough to know that a setup like yours back in the day would've made you one sought-after motherfucker. If you were good enough at using it, that is...
