Roland VS890 - New purchase

Just bought the VS890.

Absolutly Amazing. Had an old Yamaha 4 track studio (tape) and can't believe the differance. Night & day. Only had it for 2 days so far and have found it to be relativly simple to handle basic recordings. I think the turbo start video is pretty good to get you going, but falls short in creativity.

What a unit. The clearity is better than I ever imagined.

Any comments or tips on basic recording technics with this fine machine? I know I'm new to this recorder but, I can't see a personal home studio needing more recording capabilities than this one. Any thoughts on that?

Get a decent preamp......

if you don't already have one. The preamps in the VS units can be a weak link in getting a good sound into the VS. If you crank up the VS preamps, they can be noisy. Use the external preamp to boost your levels so you can keep the VS preamps turned down low.
