Hey people. I'm saving my pennies for the new Korg D32xd($2999), but I'm a little upset with the fact that it lacks mouse, keyboard, and VGA ports. Roland's 2400cd has these features, and for $200 bucks less.

I know the Korg's got more tracks, and it does export tracks as wave files for PC editing. I really like Korg's products, and I still have my Korg D8. It's never failed me.

Should I get the Roland that has less tracks, but the added convenience of computer like editing, or get the extra tracks that the Korg offers? Thanks for your time.

I am going to buy the Roland tonight!!! And for all the reasons you posted. Why spend that kind of bucks and not get graphic editing.

Thanks for replying. Man I wish I was getting mine tonight! Enjoy! Tell me how it goes.

I am also going for the Roland.... the editing is what did me in.

Does anybody know why Roland is the only company that is offering the mouse, keyboard, and VGA ports? I thought the other companies would've jumped on the bandwagon by now.

Most of the HDR's offer that. The Radar, Mackie and maybe Alesis offer it.

But the Rolands are more cost-effective... with the Mackies you would have to have a mixer already? right?

Yep. With the Mackie, you need a mixer. Same goes for the RADAR system. The RADAR rocks, but for that kind of money, I'd rather get an all in one and start recording. The more I think about it, the more I'm leaning towards the VS-2400CD. Anybody know if the learning curve is really steep?

The 2400 is really easy to learn. The manual is excellent and goes through all key concepts in an introductory manner first and then deeply in the subsequent chapters.
This means you can get straight into it and start recording recording very quickly and get more details if you need them.

I must say my only beef is that the users manual focuses on the LCD screen operation and leaves the VGA differences to an end chapter. I immediately hooked up the VGA monitor because its so much easier with it (and actually mainly why I bought it). This meant what I saw on the screen sometimes didn't match what the manual showed. It wasn't too hard to work out the differences but made it a little annoying.

Its a great machine and well worth the buy IMHO.

Thanks for the info Andrew. I really want this machine. I've had some unsuccesful attempts using PC's. They've crashed, locked up, etc., and I've never had any problems with my(D8) all in one unit.

When I saw the VGA port as a feature in an all in one, I knew that was the kind of machine that I would want. You just can't beat graphic editing. I saw a vs2400cd at a nearby store and it looks sweet! I really like the new Korgs that are comin' out, but IMHO, they lack features that they shouldn't. Thanks again for the info.
