I am using a a Roland Td-9 drum kit with the Roland UM-1EX USB-to-Midi cable and GarageBand as my recording software.
Everything sounds fine except for the hi hat.
Hitting the hi hat's surface produces the open hi hat sound, but I cannot get that sound when hitting the edge of the hi hat, and more importantly I cannot get ANY sound for the closed hi hat.
Is this a mapping issue? Does something need to configured on the module or in GarageBand?
On my module, I went to setup->midi->ctrl, and changed the Hi Hat Compatibility parameter from 'TD9/TD20' to 'External' because I had found that out in another forum but that didn't seem to do anything.
I'm not sure if this is a GarageBand problem or a Roland problem. I'm considering buying additional software (Addictive Drums, EZ Drums and/or Logic Pro 9) but I don't want to spend the money until I know this can be fixed.
Any help is appreciated.
