I have a Roland RE-150 Space Echo that seems to have a problem. The intensity is very weak as well as the echo. Could it be old tape?? If anybody could help I would greatly appreciate it.
I'm not familiar with Roland SEs, but like any magnetic tape based machine, it could be the tape (as you said), or hopefully a more readily solved thing like dirty play/rec heads. Is your input signal good and strong?
Input signal is nice and strong. The tape does seem a little brittle but would that affect the actual echo and swoosh type effect when the intensity is cranked? The heads are nice and clean and there is almost no noticeabke hiss from the tape. My friend has an RE-101 (which is basically the same machine) and the intensity is extremely prominent as well as the echo.
