I getting a new computer for Hard disc recording and the new PC will not have an ISA slot for my Roland Midi SCC 1 sound card, just PCI slots.

I use these midi sounds for drums, Piano , bass, guitar, and strings. I'm aware of Rolands external sound canvas modules and they would work fine (Although Expensive)

I use Band in the box to create my basic song using midi instruments-then convert that file to a midi file-then export the midi file to cakewalk PA 9-then record real horns (Audio)- then do my final mastering-then burn to CD.

Can anyone tell me what else is available for my midi sounds for what I do?

Thanx,

The best choices are probably the Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live!, or the Voyetra/Turtle Beach Santa Cruz or Montego II...

or, if your new machine is sprightly enough, you can get an audio-only soundcard and use softsynths for the MIDI parts.

Someone also recently mentioned that the Alesis Nanosynth is available at Guitar Satan for $49..... That'll get you in the door....
