Whats up all,
I am a talented musician that is interested in setting up a very basic home studio. I have a Roland XP-50 (workstationg) and a PC without recording software. I am pretty good at sequencing on the roland. I have played around with a cakewalk version years ago, but didn't know what I was doing.
Can you please tell me what else I need and what benefits I will gain with each addition. I have questions that may sound silly, but I will never know unless I ask. If you will, please help a brotha out.
1) Can I record using just software and the Roland. Do I need a mixer and if so, why?
2) What is the purpose of a mixer if I have the software?
Any other advice that may seem to be basic is truly educational to me.
Thanks to the masses.
