Being that the NTk has its own power source can I bypass my preamp all together and go straight to a balance 1/4 input. Or do I still have to go thru a preamp with the phantom power switched off.

You still need a preamp to get the signal up to line level.

Yes, the power supply is simply to provide the mic with it's voltage needs, which phantom power won't meet. On the audio output side of the power supply the signal is no different from any other mic output.
