not to be a shameless self-promoter of my stuff, but i use an ntk for about 80% of what i record. all songs except sweet darkness were recorded w/ an ntk - voices, drum overheads, acoustic guitars, guitar amps.
i use a tascam 2488 and than dump it into my computer to mix w/ guitar tracks and cool edit pro.
ill never claim to be a pro when it comes to recording, so take it for what it is - just some random person w/ a home recording setup and never enough spare time.
as far as the ntk - ive been very happy w/ the purchase. ive found it to be pretty versatile - like i said, i use it for pretty much everything except bass guitar, kick and snare. very warm sounding mic which is a big difference when working in the digital realm. i would definately recommend it.
Check track #11 "Po' Cat Blues"- lead vocals were done with NTK into a Joemeek twinQcs. Those are raw tracks, rough house mix, mono, no EQ or FX except on electric guitar, soft compression on vox only, about 2:1. Backing vox were done with AKG C2000B and Oktava MK319. I assure you, a world of good was done later by Littledog, who mixed it, and Sjoko, who mastered it. Listening to my house mix now is almost painful.- Richie
