Hey guys, i just wanted to say thanks to everyone! i may not have asked anyone directly, but through searches and just snooping through your vast opinions i bought my first condenser mic today. i went with the rode nt2 and hope to have many years of enjoyment, but from what i get from you guys, this is just the beginning!! thanks for everyone's opinions, and as i said, i didn't ask the question "i'm a newbie what should i buy?", but if you've ever posted any informative response, i looked at it. thanks all and we'll cya around.

Mr. Auto -

Listen to me carefully. It's not yet too late. You are on a very slippery slope, but I think we can pull you back up before you fall to your doom. Return the mic to where you bought it. Explain to them that you made a terrible mistake. Take that money and buy a set of golf clubs, or a fishing rod, or a lifesized statue of the Dali Lama, but buy SOMETHING besides gear!
In case it's already too late (and it may well be), sign up with Gearoholics Anon. and get some help man! To persue this path will only lead to poverty and degradation, sleepless nights, marital stress, and possible premature death.

We're here for you, dude

My God! It is too late, as I had feared.

"hey we all gotta be addicted to something!!"

That's what every junkie says. It starts out small, just a little condensor mic. Then it's a tube pre. Then it's better monitors. Then......

Eventually, you will find yourself sitting in a dark studio in your pajamas, glazed look in your eyes, silently moving faders as little LED's dance before you. Your wife will leave you. Your dog will starve to death. 8th Street Music will send you Christmas cards. IS THIS WHAT YOU REALLY WANT???!!!!!

OK then.

never mind.

Bob,

8th Street sends you Christmas cards?!? Damn, you're in deep. :)

Mr. Auto, congrats on your purchase ... I have one of these mics and after, what, 2.5 years it still does the job ... I've noticed that you can really change the sound by changing the placement. I've mainly dealt with that for vocals.

But you know, my fellow homereccers here are right (that abbreviation is not an accident, you know, and there ARE no coincidences ...): next it will be a pair of SD condensers. Maybe then you'll need an SM57, well, maybe a couple. Some preamps ... a clean one and a "character" one ... wait, gotta have more than one "character," so ...

Ahh yes. It's just the beginning. Enjoy!

Return the rode and get the Behringer B2, Its exactly the same mic for half the money.
