I recently bought one of these. How do they rate in the scheme of other Rode microphones. I have a home recording studio and this is my only mic currently. I've heard the SM 57 is a excellent buy. Any recommendations?

The Shure SM57 works, and IMO every studo should have at least one.

What will be its primary use?

I really appreciate my nt1000. I find it very detailed. some mics sound ok with a single track, but seem to loose "focus" in a mix. I have never had this problem with this mic. I especially like it when paired with my grace 101.

I have an Rode ntk as well, I would say this mic is every bit as good, just different (not as much bass, and obviously no tube).
