i'm looking to spend between $400 - $700. could anyone recommend a good vocal mic in this range. i'm using a old sure sm57. thanks

You checked out the AT 4047?
That ones next on my hit list. Good reviews and good user comments.
Haven't tried any rodes yet.
just a thought,...........

Also been reading alot of good stuff and user reviews about the Shure KSM44.

man, and I'm still no help with the rode.... :D

Rode huh?

The NTK is fabulous...Listen to any of Nickelback's new stuff....while you don't have to like the music (I don't), just agree that it does sound great, and all the vocals (and overheads for that matter) are done with NTK's...It's definately in your price range

i have an nt2a, and absolutely love it, you wouldn't be dissapointed.

when i was buying the nt2 i asked the sales person about the ksm44 and he said "sure is very good at making dynamic mics"..... ;) (pushing me away from a 300$ up-sale) maby he's wrong, maby not, i don't know.

i've always heard good things about the 4047.

I've always heard good things about the KSM series mics. The salesman I bought my ribbon mics from told me they'd work great inside a kick drum.
