Rode Microphone Question

I've been told that the rode microphones come with a 7 pin xlr cable. Is that the cable used to plug the microphone in to an interface? or is that the cable that is used for the power supply to give power to the microphone?

IF a condenser microphone, Rode or otherwise, comes with a cable, it will most likely come with a 3 pin XLR cable, which is what an XLR cable is, and this is the cable that you will use to plug the microphone into your interface, which in most circumstances, also will be the method via which phantom power is provided to the microphone at the same time.

You shouldn't need a separate power supply unless your interface doesn't do phantom power, which is rare....

Well I purchased a RODE NTK on eBay and it comes with a separate power supply & supposedly a 7 pin XLR cable. I was just curious if that is the cable that would plug in to the power supply, or the interface. I figure that if the 7 pin XLR cable plugs in to the power supply, that a normal 3 pin xlr cable would be used to plug in to the interface. However, I'm unsure what the 7 pin xlr cable is used for.

Most valve mics have their own power supplies.
Usually there's a unique (or at least not as common) cable between mic and PSU, then an xlr between psu and interface.
