Hehe... Good stuff Greg. Someday I'll get my drums to sound as clean as yours. I'm gonna find that cracking snare, someday.... soon.
Now, dare I pose a critique? I'm only on headphones now, so I'll need to listen to this when I get home, however I listened to your other stuff on phones, too, and didn't have any complaints so...
I can't hear your kick. I did a triple-take, just to make sure, but as far as the smack in the face 500-15KHZ click - it was quite low throughout, and in spots, I couldn't hear it at all. The drums also sounded a bit too clean, perhaps. You've got your drums sounding so good, it's almost like there's no roominess, no "boom", no mic bleed. For the punk parts of the song this is the sweet-spot, and definitely your signature... However, for the non-punk parts, the drums were a bit mechanical, even a bit sterile. (I can't believe I'm actually saying this crap to you, but hey... I've gotta be true to my ears). I only wish I had this problem with my recordings.
At around the 3:00 mark, I grinned from ear to ear as the punk kicked in. Man alive - you should be making thousands with that sound. If you're not already (and I'm only assuming this because this is a "homerecording" forum), you should go pro with your mixing abilities. I mean, as soon as the punk sound kicked in, it was as pro as anything I've ever heard.
at 4:30, love the panning of the echo on the cowbells. And then that grungy - terror inducing, menacing guitar comes in and I couldn't wait to hear what was comin' around the corner. Then it comes.... LOL I loved it.
6:00 was awesome... Great soloing... The punk shows up again, and here we go!
Yeah.... Your toms sound friggin' amazing.
Okay... I'm babbling on now, so I'll shut up.
Fabulous tune, bro, and holy cow, for an eight minute song, it as far away from boring as being in a top-fuel dragster.
Definite thumbs up.
