There are so many RME soundcards to choose from ...

I want to make a new PC and want to choose the sound card first ...

In a few other threads on this forum RME seem to have a very very good card...

Can anyone tell me which one i should choose... ???

Multiface
Hammerfall DSP

I will be using it with my Roland Multi Tracker and will need a SPDIF Digital I/O

Thanks in advance :)

What are your requirements? How many analog inouts do you need? How many digital inputs? That is the kind of stuff that would make a reccomendation possible:)

Well at the moment where my computer is located (in my bedroom)...its not possible to record a drum kit ...

So i use the Roland 8 Tracker which can record 4 tracks simultaneously to record the drums at my friends house.... It has a Digital I/O SPDIF on it

I would still like to be able to record maybe 2 Mics simultaneously with the sound card.... (Condenser Mics)

I have a mixer that has phantom power and i also intend to buy some nice mic pre's

I will be using the PC mostly for doing little rock band projects .... i'll not need to record an entire orchestra or anything like that ....

Through Time however if i did expand my hobby i'd like the card to be sufficint enough to maybe record a drum kit and forget about using the Multitracker ...

I will usually be recording drums, guitars (miced amps with 2 mics close and distant), bass guitar, vocals and Keyboards so Midi is necessary :)

So which card should i Go for?

The Hammerfall 9632 might do it, it's very expandable but has the basics you need right now along with ADAT.

I think the multiface is wonderful... you could probably score one for 500-600 off ebay and have 8 inputs and SPDIF and ADAT capabilities when you need them.
