What is known about… RMCP (Remote Music Control Protocol) where Midi information can be sent over an Ethernet Network… I would think this might be the way to go…
I mean 100 Base T cards and hubs are so cheap and the throughput is about 65 times faster than USB and a 5 times bigger packet. I called the tech support for giga sampler and they said that they didn’t recommend the USB as there is a lot of latency sometimes and recommended a faster method… I am about out of slots in this silly machine and really do not want to take out the Network Interface Card as that is how I get printing and that sort of nice stuff and I have not had many problems with it living and playing well with the other cards. If it is possible to use the network for the attachment to the instruments and sound modules it might be the dream solution for a fairly good price. Where are there any RMCP stuff available?
