That was good!!!

Okay, I have one. I'm a member of HR. I like talcum powder. Who am I?

He's a light house operator or some such, and forgot to turn the light on. Maybe a plane crashed or ship ran aground. Something along the lines of dude with responsibility forgetting to do the action he was responsible for.

Daav

That can't be right because quote:The old man grasps his head in sorrow and yells out "what have I done". If he had forgotten to turn the light on the tragedy would have been caused by something he had NOT done.

Go back and read the riddle, you have it backwards.

Read it? I was quoting the riddle. The answer contradicts the actual wording of the riddle. Technically his drinking didn't cause the tragedy. It was his failure to turn on the light. A drunken person could still have turned the light on. So the tragedy was caused by something that was NOT done which contradicts the "what have I done" statement. This indicates that either the answer is incorrect or the riddle itself is flawed.

Please read it again or ask Muttley for an explanation.

...the old man puts his guitar away, turns out the light and stumbles to bed.

As far as the "what have I done", what he did was mistakenly turn off the beacon light, which would be an action.

Aside from that, though, we sometimes refer to omissions (something not done) as actions, although I guess it is technically incorrect. One example - to forget a woman's birthday one time, and apologize - "I can't believe I did that, Honey, and I will never do that again", at least once a year for the rest of your life.

New Riddle

I had a rock band in the mid-70s thru the mid-80s that had a few minor hits.
I had a great band, but the better players began leaving in 1980 (due to my heavy drinking & cocaine use).
My record label didn't like my 1981 LP release and decided to drop my act, but I sued them and finished out my contract. (2 more albums)
My live act was still profitable so I was given a loan of $300,000 for a new road P.A./lighting system.
My cocaine habit was left unchecked and my manager looked the other way as I spent most of the $300,000 on "other things".
After nearly 2 years on the road, I had neglected to pay for the P.A./lighting and it was repossessed. My manager informed me I was bankrupt and quit as my manager.
Now, without a recording contract or a band, no manager and a bad drug habit, I was forced to join another band and they attached my name (Featuring "Me") to draw more attention to the band. But I was not happy and within a year or two, I left to reform my old band with the old bass player.
I never regained my past glory and as the 90s dragged on, my prominence faded. The band still had a cult following, but it has since dwindled. The album releases during this time (on a small label) went virtually unnoticed.
In this decade, I've done a few things, but nothing worth noting.
I'm now playing in a cover band in my hometown area, doing old classic rock tunes.

What did he play?

The whiney dude from Triumph?

Na...Rik Emmett is too good of a guy to be a druggie.
And far too good a musician to be playing in a cover band.

Nice Try...about the same popularity, think more Blues/Rock
