Rickenbacker VS Amplifiers

Hi, I'm using a Rickenbacker 4003 since a long time but until now i couldn't find the sound i'm searching, I suppose is due to my amplifier: Hughes & Kettner XXL Bass force. My question is any of you know which amplifier would be the most suitable to sound like in the 80's.

80's?....I would say a rack full of preamps, delays, compressors, tons of switches, noise gates, a snake pit of cords, and tons of clean solid state power.

Or...maybe a Roland JC-120?

Seriously though, I dont know that guitar, but I would think you are going for a more organic tone with a Rickenbacker. Try a medium power tube combo amp. Lots to choose from.

I actually wouldn't think a Marshall stack would be out of line...
or even an Ampeg (SVT), or an older V4b.
but, for a cleaner sound, you might think about a nice power amp like a Crown, and a nice front end for a preamp and some full range speakers.

Seriously though, I dont know that guitar...

I'm going out on a limb, but after the Jazz and Precision Fender basses, I might consider the Ric [with maybe the 4001 model also] being a solid third in recognition, if not popularity. Think Geddy Lee, Paul McCartney (not the Hofner violen Beatle bass), Chris Squire....

A Rick and a SVT is a great old combo..I used to use one with V4b cabs..Loved it but heavy as hell ..Also look into a old Acuostic 360 bass rig magic with a Fender and prob very cool with a Rick...Good luck
